Three Emmy Award nominations for videos produced by DNRP

Three videos produced by our staff Multimedia Producer Ken Christensen are nominated for Northwest Regional Emmy Awards. The winners will be announced at the 62nd annual award ceremony June 7 in Seattle.

The awards recognize broadcast excellence in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington with government agencies competing against news stations, documentary filmmakers, commercial videographers, professional sports teams, universities, and other public, private, and nonprofit organizations.

Here are the award-nominated videos:

Safer fishing for immigrants and refugees

We featured a community-driven research project led by our Water and Land Resources Division that makes it safer for immigrant and refugee communities in King County to fish, a culturally important way of life for many new residents.

Reducing waste from building demolition

Ken produced an explainer video showing how our Solid Waste Division is helping the local construction industry transition from demolition to deconstruction, a modern approach that dramatically decreases the amount a material the ends up in the regional landfill while creating more equitable access to green jobs.

Award-winning approach to developing wastewater talent

After our Wastewater Treatment Division won a national industry award for its highly successful Operator-in-Training Program, Ken spent time at the South Treatment Plant in Renton to find out how they accomplished what few employers in the country could.
