Factoria Recycling and Transfer Station tipping floor

King County’s Solid Waste Division is repairing and resurfacing the Factoria Recycling and Transfer Station tipping floor from Dec. 1, 2025 through mid-February, 2026. The work will cause disruptions and closures of some services throughout the construction period.

This routine transfer station maintenance project will help ensure safe and efficient waste disposal and recycling at the facility for the future.

The project includes demolition and repair of the floor where solid waste is unloaded, new concrete surfacing, and application of a high-strength epoxy topping that will help the repaired floor hold up to wear from heavy equipment.

The following services disruptions and closures are planned during construction:

  • Garbage and recycling will be closed to self-haul customers Monday through Friday beginning on Dec. 1 through the completion of the work in mid-February. Garbage and recycling services will be open to self-haul customers on weekends.
  • Yard waste will be closed throughout the construction period. Yard waste will not be allowed in garbage.
  • Household hazardous waste services will remain open normal hours.
  • The station, along with all King County solid waste facilities, will be fully closed on Christmas and New Years Day.

Self-haul customers can use nearby Renton and Houghton transfer stations for garbage and recycling services on weekdays. Yard waste can be taken to the Shoreline and Bow Lake stations. Customers should also consider delaying or postponing their trip, if possible.

You can find a full list of King County facilities here and stay up to date on the project by signing up for email alerts about the Factoria Recycling and Transfer Station. This page will be updated if there are any major changes to the construction plan and timeline.

Is anyone monitoring these comments? I’d like to stop driving to Enumclaw with my garbage trailer.

Just called them – Feb 18th, the station is not open Mon-Fri yet for the general public. They said they are close to opening and would update the website to show it is open when they do finally open. Hope this helps.
